London Buses route 297 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Ealing Broadway station and Willesden garage, it is operated by Metroline. ==History== Route 297 commenced operating on 7 September 1968〔http://www.eplates.info/290s.html〕 to replace the withdrawn section of route 46 between Willesden garage and Perivale as a Monday to Saturday route. Initially operated by AEC Regent III RTs, on 19 July 1969 it was converted to one man operation with AEC Merlins, before reverting to double deck operation with Daimler Fleetlines on 5 February 1972. On 2 June 1984, the route was extended from Perivale to Ealing Broadway. Upon being put up for tender, route 297 passed from Metroline to CentreWest on 1 December 1990 and was converted to minibus operation with Wright Handybus bodied Dennis Darts. Upon being re-tendered, it returned to Metroline on 5 December 1998. Metroline retained the route when re-tendered, with a new contract commencing on 6 December 2003 with Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident 2s introduced.〔(Bus tender results Route 297 ) Transport for London 6 June 2003〕 On 7 June 2008, route 297 became a 24-hour service.〔http://www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/archive/8459.aspx〕 On 7 March 2009, route 297's allocation was transferred to Perivale West garage and Alexander Dennis Enviro400s were introduced.
